MUMBAI: A thief who has never been identified or caught by the cops in and around Mumbai in the last year-and-a-half for over a dozen of house breakings in the city, this year, was finally arrested after an 11-year-old girl identified him. He had stolen away gold ornaments worth Rs2.38 lakhs from the girl's Andheri (East) home on October 13.
The girl, Radhika More, identified the accused, Nikhil Vaishya alias Deepak (38), a college dropout, when the MIDC police showed her at least 110 photos including a 2020 video of the public manhandling him for housebreaking in Nallasopara. Vaishya, a Govandi resident, regularly changed his locations and broke into a house where there is no closed-circuit television that has helped him to remain anonymous after committing thefts after being released from jail in 2021.
