Serge Gnabry repeats Arsenal commitment with clear message amid return transfer links

Former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry has reiterated his support for the club, claiming he was rooting for the Gunners over the past season. The Germany international has previously been linked with a return to the club, with that possibility reported to be available once again.

Gnabry spent his younger years in north London, though he was unable to break into the first-team on a regular basis and left for the Bundesliga. He eventually moved to Bayern Munich, where this season he helped them earn an 11th consecutive title over rivals Borussia Dortmund.

While Thomas Tuchel's first few months in Bavaria guided them to another title win, it remains to be seen who in the squad will be part of his project. Reports claimed that Gnabry wasn't going to be one of those, despite signing a new deal with the club only last summer.

That has naturally led to links with a return to Arsenal this summer, with the side now back in title contention and with a return to the Champions League on the cards for next season. The winger has often been very vocal with his support for the Gunners, something he reiterated this weekend.

The 27-year-old was spotted in Barcelona for the Spanish F1 Grand Prix, with Sky Sports catching up with him for a quick chat. When asked about whether he supported Arsenal in the title race this season, he replied: "Of course I did [watch Arsenal]. I think there's this saying 'Once a Gunner, always a Gunner'. I was rooting for them. Hoping for them. They had a very good season."

It remains to be seen whether a deal will be pushed through to land a return for Gnabry this summer, but his message of support to Arsenal only reiterates his previous claims.
