Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian reveals Lyme disease diagnosis

Alexis Ohanian, Reddit co-founder and husband of tennis champion Serena Williams, has revealed he has Lyme disease.

The 41-year-old billionaire announced the diagnosis through a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday night.

He penned: “Underwent a full set of health scans and tests, and it turns out I have Lyme disease.

“Surprisingly, no symptoms so far, but I’ll be getting treatment.”

Ohanian also shared details from his scans, writing: “My good cholesterol is too low, and bad cholesterol is just okay. Need to work on that. On the bright side: 822 ng/dL total and 162 ng/dL free testosterone.”

Reflecting on his past experience with the illness, Ohanian noted Lyme disease is described by the NHS as a “bacterial infection spread to humans by infected ticks.”

He added: “I’ve got a loved one who had it a few years back, showed tons [of] symptoms etc and just couldn’t figure it out until they tested him for it and then found it (treated it successfully, too).

“I spend so little time in the wilderness/northeast this was quite a surprise. Anyway, gonna grab some antibiotics — can’t keep me down, tick!”

Ohanian and Williams first crossed paths in 2015 while they were on holidays in Rome, Italy.

The couple tied the knot in 2017, two months after welcoming daughter; Alexis Olympia Jr, six. The couple welcomed their second child, another daughter, Adira River, last August.

Most recently, the couple attended the ESPY Awards together, accompanied by their eldest.
