Separating fact from fiction in the Boston Celtics’ 2023-24 campaign

When a new season starts, quite a lot of what players say at Media Day is true until it isn’t. People are in the best shape of their lives, undefeated, and a contender for the league title, just to name a few such examples — but a discerning eye can often get some educated guesses in on what is hot air, and what has substance.

In the case of the Boston Celtics, it’s probably safe to say that the team is a contender when healthy, but that healthy bit is doing more work than it does on most teams in the league, and there are several other unanswered questions looming for the team. Who will start — and when? How often will key players rest in the hopes of avoiding injury? What training camp players will make the regular roster? How will the team use its two way slots with Jay Scrubb out for the season and Neemias Queta looking like he might be too good for such a role?

With those and several other issues yet unresolved about this team and the league for the 2023-24 season, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with USA TODAY’s Jeff Zilgitt to separate Celtics fact from Boston fiction.

To hear their thoughts on what we can safely believe and what we’re still guessing about, check out the clip embedded above.
