The Sentry will kick off the 2025 PGA Tour season on Thursday at Kapalua’s Plantation Course in Maui, Hawaii. The first signature event of the year brings together 60 of the world’s top golfers to compete for a share of the $20 million prize pool. Last year’s edition of the tournament produced a longshot winner with Chris Kirk taking home the trophy at 130-1 odds.
Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 golfer, will be sitting out the tournament after suffering an injury while cooking Christmas dinner. Scheffler reportedly suffered a puncture wound from a broken glass and needed surgery to remove fragments of glass from his palm. Not only will Scheffler miss The Sentry, but he may not be well enough to return in time for the American Express.
With the world No. 1 not in action, No. 2 Xander Schauffele enters the week as the favorite to win at Kapalua. Schauffle will play the first two rounds with Wyndham Clark and Ludvig Aberg, who will be one of the main featured groups early in the tournament. Sentry 2025 Weather Forecast
As predicted, the weather at the beautiful Kapalua Plantation Course in Hawaii will be almost perfect. It won’t be too hot, but the forecast expects clear skies for most of the weekend except for the final round on Sunday morning.
