'Sent into poverty': cheaper uni study plans criticised

New laws opening universities' doors to thousands of regional students will not be effective in establishing equal educational opportunity, a parliamentary committee warns.

Under a bill introduced in June, the number of students from regional areas or low socio-economic backgrounds enrolling in university will be uncapped, making study more accessible.
