Queensland Police's Assistant Commissioner Brian Codd has reportedly been suspended for failing to report a domestic violence claim involving someone close to him.
Mr Codd was appointed to the new Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Command in March last year.
Police would only say a "senior member" had been suspended with pay while allegations were being investigated, but "cannot provide names under policy".
However, Mr Codd told NewsCorp he was "now involved in a process that is important for transparency and public confidence" and would "look forward to assisting".
The Courier-Mail says Mr Codd is alleged to have not reported a domestic violence allegation made against someone close to him.
"A senior member of the Queensland Police Service has been suspended with pay in relation to alleged duty failure over a family-related matter," a police statement said.
"The allegations will be investigated.
"More specific details about the member cannot be provided to protect the identities of other people involved."
