Boris Johnson has been ringing round MPs looking utterly knackered after jetting back from his holiday in Caribbean.
But it seems he’s not the only one who could use some sleep and an aspirin.
One of his supporters for No10 agreed to a TV interview this morning - only to admit he, too, was a little worse for wear live on air.
Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris said the 9am Sunday chat on Sky News was “a bit early” for him as he nursed the fallout of a 21st birthday party.
The 54-year-old attended his nephew’s bash the night before having to promote his boss.
Asked about negotiations between Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson, he told presenter Sophy Ridge: “You’ll have to forgive me.
“I was doing something a bit more social with a nephew’s 21st birthday last night so I - I feel like I got up a bit early just to be on here, Sophy.
“Because I had a very good, fun time with my nephew last night.”
Asked if Boris Johnson was going to run in the leadership contest, he said: "Yeah, I think so. I'm calling for him to run.”
Despite Boris Johnson trailing publicly far behind the 100 backers he needs by 2pm tomorrow, the former Chief Whip said: “I'm trying to work out the numbers and... we do have the numbers."
