Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt have come to the defense of vice presidential nominee JD Vance following backlash over his previous comments. Rubio took to social media to express his support for Vance, stating that the attacks against him are similar to what the left would have said about any nominee chosen by Trump. Rubio emphasized that the focus should be on the failures of past policies and the far-left record of Kamala Harris.

Senator Rubio, who was considered as a potential running mate for Trump before Vance was selected, highlighted the tactics of the Democrats in trying to distract from their own shortcomings. Senator Schmitt echoed similar sentiments, accusing the Democrats of being desperate to maintain power and control as their influence wanes.

The controversy surrounding Vance stems from comments he made in 2021, where he referred to certain individuals as 'childless cat ladies' during an appearance on a Fox News show. Vance's remarks were criticized by various individuals, including actress Jennifer Aniston. In response, Vance clarified that his comments were aimed at the Democratic Party for what he perceives as an anti-family stance, rather than targeting individuals who do not have children.

Despite the backlash, Rubio and Schmitt stand by Vance and assert that the attacks against him are politically motivated. The ongoing debate underscores the contentious nature of political discourse and the strategies employed to discredit opponents.
