Schmidt highlighted the importance of addressing this issue and not shying away from it, citing the divisive nature of certain ideologies such as cultural Marxism.
Schmidt pointed out that the military's focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) could be contributing to recruitment challenges, noting that the Navy fell short of its recruiting goals by 20% last year and is currently 30% below target this year. He suggested that the military's emphasis on a political agenda may be deterring potential recruits.
