Senator Ron Johnson, who voted against the bill, highlighted that two of the bill's lead negotiators, Lankford and Sinema, also voted against it.
Both Lankford and Sinema expressed that the bill was perceived as a political ploy and a charade. Schumer's statement about the failed negotiations being a strategic move further fueled the belief that the bill was not a genuine attempt to secure the border. The bill's failure on a bipartisan basis was attributed to its alignment with Joe Biden's open border policy, which many found unacceptable.
