The Senate passed a $95 billion package on Tuesday aimed at providing military aid to Ukraine and Israel, replenishing U.S. weapons systems, and offering humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza. President Joe Biden is set to sign the package on Wednesday.
The breakdown of the spending includes approximately $61 billion allocated for Ukraine and restocking U.S. weapons supplies. Of this amount, $13.8 billion is designated for Ukraine to purchase weapons, with an additional $9 billion in economic assistance provided through forgivable loans.
Furthermore, around $26 billion will be directed towards supporting Israel and delivering humanitarian relief to individuals in Gaza. A significant portion, approximately $4 billion, will be used to replenish Israel's missile defense systems. Moreover, over $9 billion will be allocated for humanitarian aid in Gaza, particularly in light of the recent Israel-Hamas conflict.
Additionally, approximately $8 billion will be utilized to assist U.S. allies in the Indo-Pacific region and to counter China. Of this amount, more than $3.3 billion will be allocated for submarine infrastructure and development, with an extra $1.9 billion set aside to replenish U.S. weapons provided to Taiwan and other regional allies.
