In response to the exclusion of the debt limit from the House-passed stop gap funding package, incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune expressed his acceptance of the situation. Despite President-elect Donald Trump's push for the debt limit to be included, Thune acknowledged the House's decision, stating, 'The vote last night is what it is. I mean, that's where the House came down.' Thune emphasized the need to address the debt limit, noting that its omission in the current bill merely postpones the issue to the following year.
