Two Senate Democrats have called on the Department of Justice to investigate tech billionaire Elon Musk over his $1 million sweepstakes aimed at registered voters. Senators Peter Welch and Richard Blumenthal sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, expressing concerns about potential violations of federal laws.

The senators' letter comes after Musk's super PAC received a warning from the Justice Department regarding the legality of its voter registration lottery. Despite the warning, Musk's super PAC proceeded with the sweepstakes, prompting the senators to request a formal investigation.
