Ohio Sen. JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, recently criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for what he perceives as a lack of public engagement. Vance accused the Democratic candidates of 'hiding in the basement' and avoiding interviews and additional debates, claiming they are failing to address Americans' questions.
During a speech in Philadelphia, Vance expressed his disappointment in Harris for not engaging directly with the American people without the aid of a teleprompter. He questioned Harris' reluctance to participate in interviews and debates, urging her to face tough questions from the public.
While Harris did answer questions from reporters during a bus tour in Pennsylvania alongside Walz, she has not yet participated in a major network interview since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee. However, her team has indicated that she will do so before the end of August.
Despite the criticism, Harris and Walz have both agreed to participate in debates against their Republican opponents. Vance also expressed confidence in the Trump-Vance ticket's ability to win Pennsylvania and the city of Philadelphia in the 2024 election, despite the city traditionally being a Democratic stronghold.
'I think we can absolutely win it,' Vance stated confidently. 'We're going to win the whole state of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia.'
