During the official Republican response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address, Sen. Katie Britt of Alabama made a claim regarding inflation that requires fact-checking.

Britt stated, 'We have the worst inflation in 40 years.' However, this claim is inaccurate. While inflation did reach a 40-year high during the Biden administration, hitting 9.1% in June 2022, it has since decreased significantly. The most recent available inflation rate, for January 2024, stands at 3.1%.
