Out of the total amount raised, approximately $16 million was allocated to the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the key election arm for Senate Republicans. This latest fundraising milestone brings Cornyn's total fundraising since he entered the Senate in 2002 to nearly $415 million. Notably, this figure includes the funds raised during his tenure as the chair of the NRSC.
In a statement, Cornyn expressed his gratitude to the numerous Americans who contributed to his campaign efforts this cycle. He emphasized that their generous support had enabled the accumulation of resources necessary to advance shared priorities in the Senate. Cornyn highlighted the unprecedented level of engagement from voters who seek effective conservative leadership in Washington.
Currently, Cornyn is competing against Senate Minority Whip John Thune of South Dakota and Senator Rick Scott of Florida for the position of Senate Minority Leader, aiming to succeed Mitch McConnell, who has held the top post for 18 years.
Recent reports indicate that Senator Thune raised $31 million during this cycle, with a portion of $4 million directly benefiting the NRSC.
