DOZENS of flood warnings have been issued across Scotland as poor weather continues to hit the country.
It comes as Hogmanay celebrations in the capital have been cancelled due to concern for public safety, with organisers unable to continue setting up for the outdoor events due to the “extreme weather”.
In the latest update, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) said water levels on Scotland’s rivers are continuing to rise into Tuesday, particularly across Speyside and the Great Glen.
The environment watchdog said that exposed coastal areas could be hazardous later on Hogmanay with some high waves expected.
As of 10am on Tuesday, Sepa currently has 33 flood warnings and 10 flood alerts in effect.
