Security staff to strike for 14 days at Aberdeen Airport

  • Security staff at Aberdeen International Airport who are members of the Unite union will stage 14 days of walk-outs between 6 July and 1 August.
  • The industrial action stems from an escalating pay dispute with their employer, ICTS, which Unite claims has refused to make an acceptable offer.
  • Unite members unanimously supported the strike, which is expected to cause significant delays for holidaymakers during the peak summer travel period.
  • Unite general secretary Sharon Graham stated that ICTS is a profitable company that can easily afford a decent pay increase, accusing them of prioritising profits over people.
  • The union warns of massive disruption at Aberdeen airport if ICTS does not return to talks with an offer workers can accept.
