Security guard denies murdering boss

Apartment block manager Mohammed Bashir Zaheer died from stab wounds. (AAP)

A security guard has pleaded not guilty to the stabbing murder of his boss, the building manager of a Sydney apartment block.

Jawid Jawid was arraigned in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday, where he denied murdering Mohammed Bashir Zaheer, 44.

But he pleaded guilty to the less serious charge of manslaughter by reason of substantial impairment.

Mr Zaheer was found with stab wounds at Pyrmont's Mirage apartment complex on the morning of July 16, 2020. He died at the scene.

Police previously said after the pair argued Jawid, then aged 41, allegedly stabbed Mr Zaheer multiple times.

Justice Robert Allan Hulme set the case down for a judge-alone trial on June 13.

The hearing is expected to last three days.
