JAMMU: Security forces on Monday said that in a joint anti-insurgency operation, a hideout was busted in the general area of Hadwagan of Ramban district and a huge cache of arms and ammunition including explosive material and AK rounds was recovered.
"On July 17, an information was received through reliable sources regarding dumping/presence of cache of arms & ammunition and related material in the forest area of Hadwagan, Buzla tehsil -Khari of District –Ramban, Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Mohita Sharma-IPS told reporters in Jammu.
She said, "Acting swiftly on this, a joint search operation of JK Police (Police Post Khari) and 23 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of Army was launched in the forest area at about 2.30pm and suspected hideout locations were searched in Hadwagan area.”
"The search operation was continued in treacherous terrain in the evening till 08.30pm during which security forces busted a terrorist hideout and recovered arms and ammunition.’
SSP Ramban said, "The recovery include 35-AK -47 Rounds; 07 PIKA ammunition (rusted); 07-9mm rounds (rusted); 02- AK 47 magazines (rusted); Explosive type material in polythene -approx 01 kg; Explosives type material in steel container:- approx. 02 kgs; one- Fragmentation grenade; one- UBGL (Under Barrel Grenade launcher- rusted); one- Radio set Alinko; one Panasonic (cassette player); Improvised Explosive Device (IED) equipment with wire (Broken condition); one Pouch; two kerosene stoves and cooking utensils.”
