Security beefed up at Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi

New Delhi: A day after protesters attacked the Bangladesh Consulate in Tripura’s Agartala, the Delhi Police on Tuesday beefed up security around the Bangladesh High Commission in Chanakyapuri area. 

A senior police officer said, "Security has been beefed up and additional police personnel have been deployed around the commission. We are also ensuring that no crowd gathers around the arae. "

Notable, owing to the ongoing winter session of Parliament, section 163 has been removed.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the development, saying: "Diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted under any circumstances."

The ministry further said that the government is taking steps to enhance the security arrangements of the Bangladesh High Commission and its deputy/assistant high commissions.


Meanwhile, situation remains tense in Bangladesh due to alleged attacks on Hindus and other religious minorities. Protests are also being held in Dhaka against the arrest of Hindu priests. In view of these incidents, protests are going on in both Bangladesh and India. (With Agency Inputs)
