The popular Bristol and Bath Railway Path is to close some sections from today. As part of ongoing works to improve the accessibility of the path for locals, upgrade works have been taking place since January 31.
The months-long project is expected to come to an end this summer. The aim is to close the path in sections to minimise the impact on it users during this time. Several sections will close from today, with further closures ahead next week.

For over 40 years, the Bristol and Bath Railway Path has been catering to the local community. However, in recent years, many locals feel it is not accessible enough.
In response to locals' concerns, Bristol City Council is working with walking, wheeling and cycling charity Sustrans, and the local community to find a solution. The Department for Transport and the council have funded this.
Another section between Colston Road and Johnsons Road will close from today. There will be a signposted diversion via Colston Road, King Street, Alpine Road and Bruce Road.
A second closure along the stretch crossing at Rose Green Road will be put in place tomorrow. This is a temporary amendment to the current closure between Bruce Road and Clay Bottom.
The current diversion for Bruce Road and Clay Bottom will be amended to include Gordon Road. Both closures aim to last for one day each.
Next week, on Monday there will be a further closure between Lawrence Hill and Owen Square Park. The signposted diversion will be via Easton Road and Owen Square Park. These diversions all require on-road cycling. Where areas along the path are closed, diversions via adjacent streets are signposted, and these guide users from one end of a closure to the other.
Sustrans has noted on its website that, 'closed sections will be reopened when it is safe to do so. But, in some cases, sections may close again at a later date to allow for the completion of works'.
