Section of M62 closed this weekend - here's where you'll be diverted

A section of the M62 will be closed in Cheshire for the entirety of this weekend. The eastbound carriageway at junction 10 (Croft Interchange) to the M6 northbound link road at junction 10 will be shut from 8pm on Friday (April 22) to 5am Monday (April 25) due to ongoing repair work.

Diversions will be to M6 junction 21 and back, and to M62 junction 11 and back. The work being carried out is 'deep carriageway inlay repairs', CheshireLive reports.

The M62 westbound to M6 northbound link road and the M62 eastbound to M6 southbound link road will also be closed overnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (8pm to 7am) in order for this work to take place.

On Wednesday, April 27, the M62 eastbound to M6 northbound and southbound link road at M62 junction 10 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 7am the following day. The M62 westbound to M6 northbound link road will also be closed for these works. Diversions will be in place via the M62 to junction 11 and back, and the M6 to junction 21 and back.

National Highways stated: "Deep carriageway inlay repairs are planned for the M62 eastbound to M6 northbound link road. The work will include the replacement of road markings, road studs and traffic count loops."

Regarding the progress of the overall project of works at junction 10, it added: "We've recently carried out work to repair the carriageway at the M62 junction 10, otherwise known as Croft Interchange. The work to repair the carriageway on the M62 at junction 10 is progressing well, and all surfacing work is now complete.

"However, due to bad weather conditions at the end of last year, we were unable to replace the bridge joints. We’ve re-programmed these works around other projects taking place in the area, to make sure we minimise disruption. These will now be completed in April 2022."
