Secret Service Briefing Rescheduled; FBI Investigates Trump Assassination Attempt

The Secret Service briefing scheduled for Monday with agency director Kimberly Cheatle has been rescheduled, according to a committee source. An alternative briefing date is expected to be provided by the Secret Service. In a separate development, House Homeland Security Chair Mark Green and Ranking Member Bennie Thompson held a call with FBI Executive Assistant Director Robert Wells to discuss the ongoing investigation into the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.

During the call, it was revealed that the FBI's Pittsburgh field office is leading the investigation into the incident, which is being classified as 'potential domestic terrorism and the attempted assassination of President Trump.' The FBI is focusing on the gunman, his motive, any potential associations, building a timeline of events, and related matters. Meanwhile, the Secret Service is conducting a review of its security protocol.
