A popular pizza joint has announced its decision to close its doors after six years of business. Rag Tag Pizza in Newport revealed the news in a social media post to their almost 2,000 followers citing the "current climate" was unsuitable and as a result, it was officially ceasing trading.
Located on Clarence Place, Ragtag Pizza became a well established pizza parlour loved by the people of Newport, but now has sadly become the second foodie haunt to close its door in a week - just days ago, Monusk Tapas and Wine Bar announced its immediate closure (read more on that here).

The pizza shop, which not only provided delicious pizzas but held workshops for budding chefs and offered some popular deals, took to social media to break the news with its owner, Matthew Evans, writing: "Hi guys, as many of you know we have not been open and we have taken the decision not move the business into a different premises and so cease trading.
"The current climate isn’t suitable, I had hoped to return back to ragtag and was excited for its future but unfortunately we have to close the doors for good. We loved our pizza and will miss it. We truly enjoyed it especially the baking classes with the kids, Thank you for your custom over the last 6 years, Big love, Matt."
Devastated customers were quick to comment on the news offering their well wishes as well as voicing their sadness at Newport losing such a delicious gem. vOne wrote: "My favourite pizza, ragtag will be truly missed", while another said: "The best pizza. We are gutted good luck for the next chapter, whatever it holds." A third commented: "That’s such a shame, you made the best pizza in the city. Best of luck for the future."
