Second phase of AI project is shelved

The government wants to monitor user feedback and cost effectiveness in the first phase before committing to an expansion, according to Ms Nan.

The Digital Economy and Society (DES) Ministry has shelved the second phase of its ambitious TH-AI Passport project, calling it a "strategic internal decision" to evaluate demand and the first phase.

The first phase is scheduled to launch within two weeks, said Nan Boonthida Somchai, deputy DES minister, adding that Phase 2 remains a concept rather than a defunct plan.
