Capital markets regulator Sebi has simplified the registration process for mutual funds by replacing multiple application forms with a single consolidated form. The market regulator said applications for mutual fund registration are currently processed in two stages: in-principle approval for the sponsor or applicant to set up a mutual fund, and final registration of the mutual fund. At present, applicants submit Form A for in-principle approval, while final registration requires Forms C and D.
The regulator has now decided to revise and consolidate the existing forms into one application form for registration of mutual funds.
