Former Monaco boss Sebastien Pocognoli is set to appointed as the new manager of Scotland early next week.
Herald Sport understands that Steve Clarke’s successor could be named as early as Monday and will take charge with immediate effect.
The SFA hierarchy have worked their way through a shortlist of names to replace Steve Clarke.
And Pocognoli, who led Union Saint Gilloise to their first league title in 90 years, will become the first overseas coach of the national team since German Berti Vogts.

Named as a contender for the Hearts post before Wouter Vrancken’s appointment in the summer the 39-year-old Belgian led Monaco to seventh place in Ligue 1, securing a place in the Europa Conference League play-offs, before leaving in May.
A former left-back, Pocognoli has experience of English football after playing for both West Bromwich Albion and Brighton on loan. A former coach of the Belgium under-21 and youth sides his appointment would be a bold departure from the SFA after Clarke’s departure following seven years in the role.
Scotland return to action in the Nations League with a four game block of fixtures beginning with Slovenia. And Pocognoli will now be in the Hampden technical area for the opening game on September 26.
