The Indian Army has been scouting forward areas of Anjaw district in Arunachal Pradesh to trace two soldiers who are missing since May 28.
The two are from Uttarakhand, defence officials said on Sunday.
A defence spokesperson based in central Assam’s Tezpur said Naik Prakash Singh and Lance Naik Harender Singh were presumed to have accidentally fallen into a fast-flowing river adjoining their post.
“We have had no success in locating them despite immediate and extensive searches involving aerial reconnaissance and tracker dogs,” the spokesperson said.
He added that the Army has convened a court of inquiry to investigate the incident.
The members of the family of the two soldiers have been informed about the mishap and are being updated regularly, officials said.
The Anjaw district in northeast Arunachal Pradesh borders Myanmar and Tibet.
