Sean Strickland, Dricus Du Plessis squash beef, promise ‘fight to the death’ at UFC 297

TORONTO – After previous insults, making fun of past trauma, tears, and a brawl, it looks like Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis are on good terms.

Heading into their middleweight title fight this Saturday, which headlines UFC 297, Strickland (28-5 MMA, 15-5 UFC) and Du Plessis (20-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC) have surprisingly squashed their beef.

First, they were caught on video on Wednesday running into each other hugging it out and being nice to each other, and then Strickland confirmed at Thursday’s UFC 297 pre-fight press conference that the two are cool.

“It was never f*cking personal,” Strickland told MMA Junkie at the presser. “You had the cuck Sean O’Malley say some stupid sh*t he knows nothing about. I go hard on everybody, you guys. You don’t think I deserve a little sh*t? I go hard on all you motherf*ckers. I’m proud of the guy. You don’t see me lose character often. This motherf*cker got me.”

Soon after clarifying their stance, Strickland asked Du Plessis if he wanted to promise to fight till death on Saturday, which Du Plessis accepted.

“Dricus can I get an agreement to the f*cking death?,” Strickland asked as he extended his hand. “To the f*cking death. Yeah. I goddamn respect him for that.”

You can watch the full interaction in the video above.
