The Broncos paid through the nose to hire Sean Payton from the Saints. Now they have to fill out his new staff.
According to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network, Denver has requested an interview with Seahawks associate head coach Sean Desai for their open defensive coordinator position.
The #Broncos requested to interview #Seahawks associate head coach and defensive assistant Sean Desai for their defensive coordinator job under Sean Payton, source said. Desai and Flores, for now.

Desai has interviewed with at least three other teams for similar openings.
The Broncos are a bigger attraction than the other teams that have spoken with Desai, though. Denver had one of the league’s most-formidable defenses for most of the year until they finally collapsed under the weight of Russell Wilson’s failure late in the season. They certainly have far better defensive personnel than what the Seahawks have to offer right now. If Payton can fix Wilson, the Broncos might be a legitimate contender next season – even in the most brutal division in the NFL.
So far though Desai appears to be content to stick in Seattle – where his job title implies a potential move up if Pete Carroll should ever decide to retire.
