If you watched the Rams’ 20-3 loss to the Packers and are struggling to find many positives to take away, you’re not alone. Sean McVay is right there with you, at least when it comes to the offense.
The Rams gained just 187 total yards, with 68 of those coming on the ground. Brett Rypien threw for 130 yards but after accounting for sacks, the Rams had only 119 net passing yards. Cooper Kupp caught just two passes for 48 yards, Puka Nacua had three catches for 32 yards and both Tyler Higbee and Tutu Atwell dropped passes.
The offensive line had plenty of issues, too, with Rob Havenstein sidelined by a calf injury for the second straight week. The Packers had four QB hits, five tackles for a loss and a sack, which resulted in a lost fumble by Rypien.
After the game, a disheartened McVay struggled to find much that went right on offense.
“Offensively, it’s hard to really say there was anything you could take away as a positive from today. That’s where the real humbling part comes in,” McVay said.
Fortunately, the Rams have hit the bye week and will have some extra time for Matthew Stafford and Havenstein to heal up before Week 11 against the Seahawks. No one expected Los Angeles to put together a great day offensively with Rypien at quarterback, but only scoring three points with 187 total yards was still disappointing.
