Sean Grayson, the 32-year-old ex-Illinois sheriff's deputy who was convicted of murdering Sonya Massey, died in prison on Sunday, August 23. Grayson was serving a 20-year sentence for second-degree murder, which he was found guilty of last October 2025.
Grayson's fatal shooting of Massey became viral due to the released body footage showing the officer pull the trigger on the then-36-year-old woman after she picked up a pot of hot water.
