Sean Dyche sends Everton blunt reminder as former boss recalls pinning Dele Alli against wall

Your Everton morning headlines for Monday, March 27.

What Sean Dyche did to Ben Godfrey in training sends blunt Everton reminder

It might be the international break, but that hasn’t stopped Sean Dyche putting his Everton side through their paces at Finch Farm.

Dyche has enjoyed a successful start to life at Goodison Park. He has not only overseen three wins from eight games, but also moved his side out of the relegation zone.

Everton are a long way from being completely out of trouble, but there is a feeling of renewed optimism amongst supporters heading into the final 10 games of the season.

Following his appointment as Frank Lampard’s successor, Dyche promised to make the players 'sweat' and bring back some of the basic principles of what Everton have stood for.

What came next was exactly what all Blues supporters wanted to see. Dyche’s first session saw the return of the beep test.

From footage released by the club, it looked like Ben Godfrey and Ellis Simms were the last two players standing. There were also plenty of Blues stars out of breath.

But before the fitness testing came the bans. Snoods and hats were no longer allowed while players were told they must now wear shin-pads for training.

The change in approach exposed an unexpected problem for Everton's kit staff when it emerged that the club didn't have enough full length socks to kit out the squad. A trip to Sports Direct was reportedly required.

And during his side’s latest training session, defender Godfrey witnessed first hand just how meticulous his boss can be.

Dele Alli was 'pinned against wall' by old boss as insight into Everton man given

Karl Robinson has revealed he pinned Everton midfielder Dele Alli up against a wall when the two worked together at MK Dons.

Dele started his professional career at MK Dons before his impressive form at such a young age caught the eye of the Premier League as he sealed a move to Tottenham Hotspur, who last night sacked their manager.

Dele went on to become of the best young players in the world at Spurs, helping them to the 2019 Champions League final, which they lost to Liverpool, and winning 37 caps for England.

But after his form declined, the 26-year-old was allowed to move to Everton in January 2022. However, the move has not worked out and in August he was sent on a season-long loan to Besiktas.

Dele's troubles have continued in Turkey. He is reportedly no longer part of Senol Gunes' plans and last week the Besiktas manager suggested Dele had 'gone AWOL' from training.

They were claims denied by both the player's representatives and then the player himself. One of Dele's Besiktas team-mates, fellow England international Nathan Redmond, has also spoke out in defence of the Blues star.

And now Merseyside-born Robinson has shared a memory of Dele after he burst on to the scene as a teenager in League One with MK Dons.
