Sean Dyche's plea as Leeds United relegation rivals Burnley and Everton gear up for six-pointer

Sean Dyche has urged Burnley fans to roar their team on in tonight’s crucial Premier League six-pointer against Everton. A home win for the Clarets would see them cut the gap on Leeds United to six points - with another two games in hand.

Victory for the Toffees would move them two points behind Leeds with two games in hand, meaning the outcome is equally important to the Whites as it is for both Burnley and Everton. Frank Lampard’s men are bottom of the top-flight’s away table - having won just once on the road all season - but a tricky run of upcoming fixtures means they will be prioritising this as a must-win game.

Burnley know three points tonight could serve as the springboard for their survival and Dyche has issued another battle cry to his supporters. Speaking to LancsLive before the game, he said: "The fans have been important all the time I've been here, after my first six or seven months. There's been a real alignment and respect, both ways, and they've played their part in our successes.

"They were terrific again against Man City, and have been, home and away, season on season. The mentality has been superb, and I do feel it helps players, so I definitely want that to continue.

"The players have to pay that back by playing well, but it's a good platform knowing the fans are behind them.”
