Sean Dyche hails Rangers star Scott Arfield as midfielder's 'incredible' attribute highlighted

Former Burnley boss Sean Dyche says Scott Arfield's ability to keep himself in top condition is part of the reason he is still shining for Rangers.

The former Canadian international is now 33 but finds himself a key member of Giovanni van Bronckhorst's dressing room. He played a big part in their road to a Scottish Cup final win last season on top of helping the run to May's Europa League showpiece, Dyche not surprised he can stand the test of playing every few days.

Arfield played 193 times for the Turf Moor side over a five-year stay before leaving in 2018 for Ibrox and Dyche says that ability to make sure he's ready for battle is a big reason why he's still performing at an elite level for Rangers. He told the Daily Mail: "The amount of football he played over the years he was at Burnley was incredible. He was very rarely injured and always available.

"He should delighted with his career. I can't comment on what's going on at Rangers. But any manager is always searching for a recipe that works.

"I was never worried whether a player was young or old. All I worried about was whether they could do a job. Did they have the appetite? Did they have the desire to affect what's going on?

"And, in my experience, Scotty has always been a player who keeps himself right. He was always looking after himself and ready to go. I doubt that he has ever changed in that regard."
