Sean Dyche breaks silence on Rangers manager links as he makes Ross Wilson admission

Sean Dyche has pleaded with Ross Wilson to invite him to Ibrox for the next Old Firm derby as he responded to speculation linking him as a possible successor to Giovanni van Bronckhorst if the Dutchman fails to ride out the current storm engulfing him.

The 51-year-old has been out of work since being sacked by Burnley seven months ago but insisted he still believes he can land a job in the English Premier League. However, Dyche confessed he will have to “broaden my horizons” if he fails to get a gig in the top flight south of the border.

That could see him come onto Rangers’ radar if they are on a hunt for a new boss at that time and he revealed his relationship with Light Blues sporting director Wilson, who he worked with at Vicarage Road. Dyche appeared as a guest on the lunchtime talkSPORT show hosted by Jim White who read out a message from a caller saying he would personally drive Dyche to Ibrox.

Responding to that, he said: “There is a window of opportunity (for the Premier League) and I think I’m still in it. People say I’ve been out of the game for seven months but when you consider there’s three months of a close season then it’s like four active months.

“I’ve got a window of possible opportunity in the Premier League. If it comes my way then brilliant, if not then I’ll have to broaden my horizons. I do know Ross Wilson at Rangers and if he’d like to invite me to the Old Firm derby – I’ve never been – then he should. I’ve heard so many stories and I’d love to do it. I worked with Ross at Watford.”
