It was a great start for the Irish at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship on Thursday and Shane Lowry and Seamus Power were near the top of the leaderboard.
Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald leads the way after shooting a blistering eight under par.
But hot on his heels is Seamus Power with the Waterford man just two shots behind.
Power had a blistering start with birdies on the first two holes and was five under par for his front nine.
The birdie streak did dry up as Power hit nine pars in a row but finished with a welcome birdie on the 18th hole to shoot an electric six under par.
And Lowry was only one shot behind Power and had an eagle three on the second hole while also getting back to back birdies on holes eight and nine.
Lowry also birdied the 10th which would be the last of the day as he hit eight straight pars to finish.
