Speed has been the name of the game for the Miami Dolphins in the last year or so, as they’ve added a ton of blazing weapons to their roster.
Before Mike McDaniel arrived in South Florida, Jaylen Waddle was already on the roster, a fast wideout in his own right. Since then, Miami’s added Tyreek Hill, Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane, three more of the fastest players in the league, with Hill widely accepted as the fastest in the NFL.
However, on Wednesday, another Pro Bowl wide receiver had to call out Hill for that title – Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf. Metcalf joined FS1’s “Undisputed” with Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless to set the record straight.

Racing has been a topic of discussion among the Dolphins, as there was a lot of hype regarding a Waddle-Hill race last offseason, and the “fastest player at practice” was always talked about in the locker room and with the media.
At the 2019 combine, Metcalf ran a 4.33 40-yard dash, an incredibly impressive feat for someone his size (6-foot-3, 228 pounds).
Hill is much smaller (5-foot-10, 185 pounds), but that speed has helped him earn All-Pro honors in each of his seven seasons in the NFL. He didn’t attend the combine back in 2016, but he was recorded as running a 4.29 40-yard dash at West Alabama’s pro day.
If Hill’s time was official at the combine it would be tied for the 11th fastest time in NFL combine history, and only Kansas City Chiefs’ wideout John Ross (4.22) and Cleveland Browns’ wideout Marquise Goodwin (4.27) are the only active players with faster times.
