Last year, the Seattle Seahawks brought back prime 1990’s nostalgia with the return of their iconic royal blue throwback uniforms. For the second week of the preseason, they are also throwing it back to the 90’s, but in an entirely different way.
Today, the Seahawks are engaging in a joint practice with the Tennessee Titans before their Week 2 preseason game on Saturday. It is the first time Seattle has been apart of a joint practice since July of 1991. Back then, the Seahawks “hosted” the Atlanta Falcons in Portland as a fundraiser for the Portland State University scholarship fund.

While it was just a practice and not an actual game, the results of that evening in late July seem to be lost to history at the moment. The Seahawks and Falcons did not go on to play each other in the preseason that year, but they did face off in the regular season. Seattle traveled to The Big Peach in mid December, where they unfortunately lost 26-13 to the Falcons.
The 1990’s were not the kindest decade for the Seahawks. Seattle finished 7-9 that year, as it was the beloved Chuck Knox’ final season with the franchise. Perhaps it is only fitting the first time the Seahawks are engaging in a joint practice in the first year without another legend at head coach, Pete Carroll.
Seattle will look to build upon the successes from their 16-3 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers last week, which was far more dominant than the final score would suggest.
This will be the first preseason game against the Tennessee Titans since 2012, which was the first look at then-rookie quarterback Russell Wilson. Featured on the Titans that year were quarterbacks Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker.
Interestingly, Saturday will mark the first time the Seahawks have traveled to Nashville for a preseason game.
