Seahawks select linebacker in Round 1 of latest NFL.com mock draft

NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks doesn’t believe a single quarterback will be selected in the first round of this year’s draft. Brooks cites his reasoning that teams will resist the urge to “push” quarterbacks up the board due to positional value.

“Although the Tier 1 quarterbacks in this class are intriguing prospects with starting potential, the flurry of activity following the NFL Scouting Combine is likely indicative of how the NFL world views their talent and potential at this point,” Brooks asserts. ‘Sure, those opinions could change, but it is hard to ignore the game of musical chairs that we have witnessed this offseason.”

For the Seahawks, who are currently slated to pick at No. 9 overall, Brooks believes Seattle will snag linebacker Devin Llyod out of Utah as a replacement for Bobby Wagner. The Seahawks released their long-time starting linebacker ahead of the official start of free agency.

Brooks calls Lloyd a “versatile linebacker with impact potential as a pass rusher/playmaker/ballhawk from the second level” who could very well plug the Wagner hole.

The NFL draft is set to kick off on Thursday, April 28 from Las Vegas.
