With their first pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft, the Seattle Seahawks have selected Mississippi State offensive tackle Charles Cross at No. 9 overall.
Cross, 21, is officially listed at 6-foot-5 and 307 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.95 seconds. The left tackle only started for the last two years but earned himself a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team and a First-Team All-Conference selection in 2021, his sophomore season. He is widely viewed as one of the best pass blockers in college football despite his limited time as a starter.
With last year’s starting left tackle Duane Brown still unsigned, Seattle could look to replace him with Cross right out of the gates as the rookie is projected to be a quick transition to the pro game at either of the tackle spots.
Cross is considered one of the top offensive tackle prospects in a deep 2022 class of them.
