The New York Giants return home on Monday to host the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium. Their road trip out west didn’t go quite as planned and the comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals remains their sole victory this season.
The biggest reason the Giants overcame against the Cards is thanks to Daniel Jones. He has willed his team to perform at a higher level, and other coaches are taking notice.
Buy Giants TicketsLast week, Kyle Shanahan said that Jones presents a “serious challenge.” This week, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll noted the threat Jones poses.
“He’s really mobile, and they know it and they use him, and that’s a big factor,” Carroll said, via the Seattle Times. “He’s big (6-5, 221) and strong and can throw the ball all over the place, but it’s the running that really makes him really a difficult guy to play against.
“I’m going to have to figure out how to control that to some extent, but he pretty much can get out on everybody. He’s fast and big and strong enough to kind of pull out of tackles and things like that, so man, he’s dangerous.”
The biggest problem Jones faced in his rushing game last week was the absence of Saquon Barkley. Without him posing a threat on the field, opposing teams know they have to put more focus on Jones.
It’s likely that the Giants will be without Barkley again on Monday, so Jones and his offensive line need to find a better game plan than what they used last week.
The Seahawks are a formidable opponent, but they have to travel across the country for this game. Still, beating them won’t be easy. Hopefully, the Giants have a solid plan in place for this game and come away with the win.
