Durde played linebacker in his time and then got his start coaching with the Falcons in 2018 as their defensive quality control coach. After a couple years in that position, he moved up to outside linebackers coach. From there he jumped ship to the Cowboys, where he served under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn the last three years as their defensive line coach.
Durde will be easing in to his new role. In his introductory press conference, Macdonald told reporters that he would be calling the defensive plays “for now,” or until his defensive coordinator is ready to take over.
