Seahawks GM sees 2024 NFL draft class as a strong one

By all accounts, the Seattle Seahawks completed yet another solid draft. The 2023 class has netted intriguing and exciting prospects for Seattle – such as Devon Witherspoon, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Zach Charbonnet.

Both the 2022 class and the 2023 class were strong, and have given the Seahawks foundational pieces to get them back in the playoff discussion. But if you listen to general manager John Schneider, there could be more on the horizon.

According to Schneider, the 2024 class is likely going to yield more talented prospects, and it was a driving factor in their trade back with the Denver Broncos. From John Boyle at Seahawks.com:

“With about a minute left on the clock, Thomas calls in the trade, which sends the 83rd pick to Denver in exchange for a fourth-rounder (No. 108 overall), as well as a third-round pick in next year’s draft, the later of either Denver’s own third-rounder or the one they acquired in an earlier trade with New Orleans. Schneider would explain after the draft that adding picks for next year had been a goal coming into the draft, as they see next year’s class as being a strong one.”

First off, it’s more than a little smirk-inducing the fact the Broncos somehow haven’t blocked Schneider’s phone number given recent history. But more importantly, the Seahawks have a foothold in a class they clearly have their eyes on.

Whether Seattle uses this pick as intended, or as future ammo for a trade-up package, the organization now has options.
