Seahawks’ Drew Lock Likely to Revert to Bench After Heroics vs. Eagles

Despite quarterback Drew Lock leading the Seahawks to a comeback win over the Eagles on Monday night, Seattle coach Pete Carroll is resorting back to original starter Geno Smith for Sunday’s game against the Titans.

Smith has been out since Week 14 due to a groin injury. He was a limited participant in practice ahead of the Week 15 matchup against Philadelphia and even dressed in uniform Monday, but the medical staff determined it was best for Smith to wait another week to start.

Carroll told reporters Tuesday that Smith will “practice all this week and play in the game and away we go.”

Lock will return to the backup quarterback position less than 24 hours after he conducted a game-winning 10-play, 92-yard drive capped off by a 29-yard touchdown pass to receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 28 seconds left.

The quarterback was very emotional after the game.

“It’s been a long time, it’s been a long time,” Lock told ESPN’s Lisa Salters before taking a pause. “I’m just blessed. Blessed with a great group of guys, a great city, great coaching staff. It’s just, it’s awesome.”

Before missing the last two games, Smith completed 64.4% of his pass attempts for 2,918 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 12 contests.
