After coming through for the Seahawks in prime time, quarterback Drew Lock found another way to make a lasting impression following his heroics against the Eagles.
Lock, who was named the starter just before kickoff, stunned Monday Night Football viewers in Seattle’s 20–17 win after connecting with rookie receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a 29-yard dime for the go-ahead touchdown.
Seattle’s defense would put the game away with an interception on the ensuing drive, but it was Lock’s clutch effort that stole the show. After the game, an emotional Lock would further capture America’s attention with a heartfelt interview reflecting on the win.
“It’s been a long time, it’s been a long time,” Lock told ESPN’s Lisa Salters before taking a pause. “I’m just blessed. Blessed with a great group of guys, a great city, great coaching staff. It’s just, it’s awesome.”
Lock also took a moment to highlight the moments leading up to the TD pass that capped the 10-play, 97-yard series, a sequence the four-year veteran gave a clear distinction to in terms of his career.
“I’ll remember that play call for the rest of my life,” said Lock.
“That was amazing... I’m just blessed with a great group of guys.”

When a person comfortable sharing his emotion meets a great interviewer who realizes the emotion of the moment and dives into it.

I'm really pleased for Drew Lock. His interview after the game was probably one of the most genuine interviews I've seen from an NFL player.

In addition to his reflection on the crucial win, Lock revealed that he found out when he arrived to the stadium that he would start in place of an active Geno Smith. The veteran was questionable due to a groin injury that sidelined him for Week 14.
On a night where Lock led the fourth game-winning drive of his career, Seattle’s decision to pivot proved to be the right call, and one that possibly saved its season.
