A very special congratulations is in order for Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, as he officially turns 72 years old today.
Although he is easily the oldest head coach in the NFL, he sure does not act his age. Carroll’s exuberance and contagious energy is unrivaled. As many coaches his age appear to be ready to leave the profession, Carroll still looks like he surfs to work.

Carroll has accomplished plenty during his storied NFL career, but his legacy in the league is defined by the incredible success with Seattle. Carroll completely revived a Seahawks franchise mired in mediocrity at best, and at worst… Jim Mora Jr. His 161 career wins are tied with fellow Seattle head coach Mike Holmgren for 17th most in NFL history.
But perhaps one of his greatest accomplishments is the fact he is one of only three head coaches to have won both a Super Bowl and College National Championship.
Here’s to you, Coach Carroll. Hoping you have a memorable birthday, and can keep adding to your legacy.
