The Seattle Seahawks have announced several roster moves ahead of tonight’s critical game against the Dallas Cowboys. The list includes activating right tackle Abe Lucas from injured reserve, which should give them a shot in the arm where they need it most.
Here’s a quick review of their game-day transactions.
Activated from IR: RT Abe Lucas
The biggest headline is that right tackle Abe Lucas has finally returned after a 12-week stint on injured reserve. Lucas has been out since Week 1 with a chronic knee pain issue which the Seahawks will have to manage for now. Seattle tried a trio of starters in Lucas’ absence, beginning with Jake Curhan, followed by Stone Forsythe and finally Jason Peters. Aside from one strong game from Peters, they all failed to live up to a starter level of play. Lucas coming back should at least in theory give a boost to their pass protection as well as their run blocking.
Placed on IR: G Phil Haynes
Lucas will be taking the roster spot of starting right guard Phil Haynes, who is dealing with a toe injury and was the only player ruled out for tonight’s game. Haynes will most likely be replaced in the lineup by rookie guard Anthony Bradford, who’s earned high marks for his run blocking.
Elevated from practice squad: WR Cody Thompson
The Seahawks also elevated wide receiver Cody Thompson from the practice squad for tonight’s game in Arlington. Thompson has appeared in six games with Seattle this season, working mostly on special teams.
